Our Government is Up and Running!

Psalm 67:3 says, 'Oh let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations on earth.'

The other evening, some of us around here were discussing the government shutdown for a bit.  And I'll admit, I spent a little too much time reading the news stories on our nation.  It seems there are many who are discouraged and negative about the state of the nation, and the world, for that matter.  The media surely doesn't help with that!
But what are believers in Christ to think in stressful times?  Certainly this decade is not the first to see struggle!

'Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.' (Phil. 4:8)

My oldest, Danny, came upstairs a few days ago with a smile on his face.  He said to me, 'Hey Mom, our Government isn't on shutdown.' And I knew exactly what he meant.  So I gave him a fist bump, because Mom's of young adults do fist bumps, you know.
Our Government is alive and well.  Our King is on the throne. Still.  And always.  He will never lack wisdom or knowledge or strength of character.  Nor will He fail to love His people.  He has always, and will always, rule with grace and honor and all power.  He will never need to be re-elected.  He will never be defeated or impeached. He will never disappoint.  He is the Almighty God worthy of our worship and attention!  And He is governing the nations of the earth- that means the United States!

'Lift up your eyes on high, and see Who has created these things, Who brings our their host by number; He calls them by name, and the strength of His power;'
Isaiah 40:26

'Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.'
Rev. 4:11
